Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
No more twiddling your thumbs and burning your GPS batteries while you download map detail to the data card. The USB data card programmer downloads maps directly to the data card in a fraction of the time. Connects to the USB port on your PC.ll at a price you can afford.

Amazon.com Product Description
The Garmin 010-10776-00 USB 2.0 Data Card Programmer lets you download map details directly to your data card, without having to use your Garmin GPS unit. This unit connects to your PC's USB port on one end, and transfers data to the built-in data card base on the other. Not only does this save you time by transferring data via high-speed USB 2.0 rather than at the slower GPS device pace, but it also saves your GPS unit's battery allowing you to be out on the road sooner and for longer. The Garmin 101-10776-00 data card programmer fits standard SD data cards, and is approximately two inches in diameter and six feet in length.

5 out of 5 stars Garmin USB Data Card Programmer   September 19, 2007

This USB card interface provides a method of programming a Garmin data card to exchange infomation between your computer and the GPS unit and to install software updates for your Garmin GPS. It installs easily and works great. I now have detailed map info on a 32mb data card installed in my Garmin GPSMap 178c GPS/Sounder. It is great.

1 out of 5 stars Beware -- this will not work with USB 1.0 and some USB 2.0 chipsets.   June 3, 2007
W. Costa (Durham, NH USA)
Most USB 2.0 devices are backward compatible with USB 1.0 interfaces. This is not one of them. While I have not seen any published specs that specifically say it is *not* USB 1.0 compatible the read me file on the driver CD explicitly states that it requires a 'pure' high speed environment. If you check the Garmin FAQ file for this device (recommended) you'll also find that there are problems with non-Intel USB chip sets. Sure enough, when I tried this on a different computer with an aftermarket USB 2.0 adapter card, no luck there either. Probably works fine with built-in USB 2.0 on name brand computers, but this is the first USB device I've ever had this kind of problem with, so that's why I'm giving it just one star.
