Unlike traditional collars, the Gentle Leader Easy WalkTM Harness never causes coughing, gagging, or choking because the chest strap rests low across the breastbone, not on the delicate tracheal area. The strong nylon is both soft and adjustable in four places for maximum fit and comfort. There is a quick snap buckle on both the shoulder and belly straps, plus a complementary color for the belly strap, making the harness easy to put on and take off. It's easy to fit and easy to use, that's why they call it Easy Walk! Lifetime Guarantee: if your Premier Gentle Leader has any sort of accidental damage or hardware failure, including chewage, you can exchange it for a new harness. For dogs with additional training issues like jumping, barking, excessive pulling and lunging, we recommend the Gentle Leader Headcollar. Do not use the Gentle Leader Easy Walk Harness with a retractable leash. With a retractable leash, the dog is rewarded with more leash and less resistance when he pulls ahead. You want the dog to learn to NOT pull ahead. In addition, a retractable leash will always apply a slight constant pressure, teaching your dog it is okay to continue pulling.

This harness doesn't control a dog any better than putting your lead on the front ring of a regular harness. Also, it allows the dog to escape.

These harnesses are great - the ASPCA gave us one when we adopted our dog and we didn't realize what a huge difference it made until we walked our dog with just a collar. We did eventually 'graduate' him to a collar, but when we go places where we thing he is more likely to become anxious or not listen to verbal commands, we use the easy walk and it requires much less work to get him to heel. Only problem is that a medium is just a little too big, and a small is too small - I wish Amazon prime would carry the new in-between sizes Premier makes.

The item has been pretty useful for a dog that pulls but the dog has been pretty upset whenever he's walked with the leash and does not hesistate to show his displeasure. It's been a great buy and I'd recommend it to owners with problems walking their dogs.
