This item needs to be adjusted to one's location before using it reliably. It must be calibrated first by setting it to a N-S-E-W direction [using a street map for the definitive directions] and the globe adjusted if there is any deviation. This accuracy is good, but the difficulty is in knowing WHERE exactly N-S-E-W is in the first place, as that is what a compass is for. Other than this small hassle, it seems to be well made.
