Ok, so you are sitting at home, enjoying a nice cigar and you notice that you can't see 5 feet in front of you because of all the smoke. This little baby will gently rest your cigar, or cigarette and the fan will suck the smoke into one of two small filters, greatly reducing the amount of smoke in the air. At this price, you have to pick one up. Either all black or black&white model will be sent.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who I like to visit but end up leaving early because the smoke gets to me after awhile. (He was psyched too since he worries about his cat breathing in all the smoke) What a pleasant surprise it was! It needs no directions, just pop in 2 C batteries and you're ready to roll. It's very attractive and extremely simple to use. The top just lifts off, no pushing in tabs or buttons. It's obvious where to put in the batteries. The 2 filters are plastic rectangles that remove very easily just by tipping over the open ashtray. What an elegant design - no fuss, no muss. And of course, we did the test with a lit cigarette with the unit turned on and off (there's a simple switch for that) and voila! the smoke got sucked down the ashtray. There is a low humming sound that you have to try to hear. This is a great product! One suggestion, my friend keeps a regular ashtray next to it to put out his cigs so that his "nice" ashtray doesn't get crapped up with butts.
Visiting is so much easier now thanks to this smokeless ashtray.

This ashtray works well, isn't excessively loud for what it does, and doesn't use a lot of power so batteries last a while as long as you remember to turn it off. Of course it will not eliminate the effects of indoor smoking but it will reduce them.
It does the job well enough but noise is a downside June 25, 2008

This ashtray gizmo does a fine job of filtering out the 'idle' smoke caused when you set your smoke in the ashtray. It adds up to a lot less smoke in my music room, which is always a good thing.
I suppose the noise is related to the motor that pulls the air from the ashtray into the filter system, but a quiet room will not be so quiet with this baby running. Cleaner air good but noise is not so good.
Mine has lasted a few years and has to deal with cigar, cigarette, clove cigarette, etc., smoke frequently. At this rate, it will outlast my lung capacity.
I haven't regretted buying this smokeless ashtray or the extra filters.

I have been selling these on eBay (gratefulbuys) for over 9 years with 100% positive feedback and constant praise for them.
They work very well. We discovered that the entire ashtray can actually be washed with soap and hot water without any damage to the electrical parts or motor. Just remove the filters and batteries and let it dry before using!

This smokeless ashtray works extremely well at containing second-hand smoke. Cleaning it can be a challenge; however, it works just as advertised! Recommend cleaning and changing the filters often to maintain the unit especially if you're a heavy smoker. I'm definitely sold on this item!
