Amazon.com Product Description
Stay alert to the conditions that affect you with Midland's WR-100 weather/all-hazard radio. The unit offers S.A.M.E. technology (Specific Area Message Encoding), which preprograms the device to receive only those warnings that apply to your local area--you can choose state, county, and/or nearby counties. The single-speaker radio offers 25 programmable county codes, access to 7 NOAA weather channels, time/date and alarm functions, and a choice of voice, siren, or tone alert.

In the event of special warning broadcasts, the monitor is automatically activated along with a loud tone, an LED light and an alert message on its 8-character LCD. Emergency weather bulletins include alerts about tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, ice/snow storms, and other severe weather. Other emergencies might include Amber alerts, explosions, fires, or hazardous chemical spills.

The radio uses the supplied AC power adapter or 3 AA backup batteries (not included). Batteries should give you approximately 24 hours of continuous operation; the clock will run for at least 10 days on batteries when the monitor is turned off (using the monitor on/off control).

What's in the Box
Radio, AC power adapter, and a user's manual.

5 out of 5 stars Great SAME Weather Radio - Works Perfectly   August 19, 2008
I have owned this unit (WR-100C) for over two months with no problems. Once the correct SAME code(s) for your area are entered, you can eliminate those alarms you do not wish to hear. As Tropical Storm Fay came by us, the radio was going off all the time with the new alerts just as expected. The only feature that I would like to see is an option button to mute all alerts except `Warnings' so that Informational and Watch alerts do not wake you up during the night.

1 out of 5 stars A terrible radio!   August 13, 2008
This radio worked great for about 4 months. Now everytime I turn it on I have about 10 seconds to listen to the weather then all I get is static and dislpay shows signal failure. To make matters worse, Midland, who is located near me told me I needed an external antennea. I then told her that it's worked fine for 4 months and it's been in the same location in my house the whole time. She told me to take it back where I bought it or send it in to them with my receipt. I bought this at a grocery store and I don't have the receipt. What a piece of s@*&!!

5 out of 5 stars Peace of Mind   July 27, 2008
Love this product...I have always worried that I would not wake up if severe weather/tornados came through during the night because we live in the country and do not hear any sirens. This product is wonderful because I can set which counties I want to be alerted about and it tells me everything I need to know. Great product!

5 out of 5 stars Read the Instructions   July 23, 2008
When I received this unit, I thought I set it up correctly, but when it failed to respond during a severe thunderstorm warning, I figured I had done something wrong (Hearing a Canadian weather report was a good clue!). I had. I reread the instructions and corrected my mistake. It has performed flawlessly since. I suspect that the 1-star raters failed to follow the instructions as they experienced the same thing I did. I have set my SAME codes for my county, my daughter's county, and my son's in Iowa. As an official weather spotter, I wouldn't be without an adequate warning system and this really works. Great price and a good, functional piece of equipment. 5 out of 5 stars Great Weather Alert Radio!   July 8, 2008
The Midland WR-100C Weather / All Hazards / Civil Emergency Alert Monitor with S.A.M.E. is a great product! We had another brand and it did not perform as well as this one does. It gives us the right alerts and the voice that announces the alert is very clear. There is no static in this one at all. It was well worth the money! I would recommend this product to anyone who is concerned about weather or any other emergency alerts.
