 Store a lot and keep it all dry! June 19, 2008
I've used this cargo top for almost a year now and I've used it extensively. It's very heavy vinyl, so you don't have to worry about poking a hole through it (almost the thickness of an innertube). The zipper is heavy duty steel, and the straps do a good job of holding it all down. I've driven through heavy rain and only a little bit of water got in, although I'm really not sure how.
For the money, this is an excellent product.

We purchased this bag because our car was always packed when going on trips. We bought the Highland universal basket carrier for our roof to attach the carrier to. It gave us much needed space. The carrier went through a snow storm and did just fine - none of our items got wet. However, it normally only takes us 3/4 of a gas tank to reach our destination but this time we had to fill up in order to make it there. The drag from the carrier was quite noticeable. Even so, we needed something inexpensive that would give us more room - which is exactly what this does. If we had more money, we would buy an aerodynamic carrier rather than this.

I purchased this item, to get a lot of things home, from an extended vacation. I drove through a lot of rain, some VERY heavy, and the water came in through the bottom of the carrier. The zipper top worked great, kept top items dry, but many pieces of luggage, and a cardboard box on the bottom got quite saturated. I loved the space it saved, and how easy it was to attach to the top of the Van, that is why I gave it 3 stars. It is certainly not waterproof though! Even so, great product....just watch out for the rain, or put down a few large towels to soak up any potential rain water.

I bought this for a move cross country. I put light stuff in it in order to be able to unpack it at motels every night. The bag is light but sturdy. It came only with some nylon straps and plastic parts, so I added 2 bungee cords for my own comfort. The bag never seemed to move. There was some rain, but it did not penetrate the bag. The bag is flexible; I had thought you would have to fit the dimensions exactly, but it is not a hard box.
The price is reasonable, especially for my occasional light needs.
