Product Description The Res-Q-Me is like a mini LifeHammer that fits on your keychain! Similar to the LifeHammer, the Res-Q-Me is designed to break vehicle side windows and cut through jammed seatbelts. The window breaker is a spring-loaded metal spike. When pressed against a side window the spring releases and the metal tip shatters the glass allowing you and your family to escape. The spike is automatically reset after use and can be reused many times. (Approximately 12 lbs. of force is required to release the spike.) The blade guard attaches to your keychain and protects against unintended use. When attached to your keychain the Res-Q-Me stays firmly in place, yet detaches easily with a sharp tug when necessary. To use the seat belt cutter, hook over the seat belt and pull. The Res-Q-Me was awarded the Gold Medal for Best Automotive Product of the year at INPEX 2004.

Cheaply made - useless for rescue June 11, 2008 I purchased this item believing the hype behind the description, only to discover the small print in the directions declaring that it would not break a car window. It is made of cheap plastic and really has no purpose, a truly useless object, an expensive bobble of a keychain.
I Hope... April 9, 2008 I purchased this product as a precautionary mesure, in which I HOPE I will never use and in case I use it I HOPE it will work.
ResQMe-Rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. April 6, 2008 I bought a few of these for friends and family. It's an inexpensive gift that may save a life. I tested mine on a piece of window glass - it works with little pressure, and can be used over & over. I pray they never need it, but if someone I love is ever trapped in their car, this could save a life.
meaningful gift January 1, 2008 My wife said it was one of her favorite Christmas gifts because I listened to her and thought of her safety. I like that it is small and hooks on key chain.
Test Them! December 7, 2007 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Imagine giving this device to your 16 year old. Imagine he encounters circumstances to put it to use. Now imagine it fails to work. How would you feel about your gift?
I ordered 6 of these as Christmas stocking-stuffers. Fortunately, my 16 year old tested the glass breaking function of his on a piece of scrap hard plastic.
No matter how hard we tried we couldn't get the pin to 'pop'. The barrel simply moved in and out with no effect.
I handed him another. The pin popped as it should but then remained stuck in the extended position. In actual use that would have meant one try to break the glass and then the device would have been useless.
I tested the remaining 4 and they did, in fact, function as advertised and demonstrated. I don't think a device like this ought to have what basically amounts to a 33% failure rate on the 6 I purchased.
If you buy them, TEST them. Then consider installing the full-sized hammer as a back-up.
