Amazon.com Product Description
The Rayovac PS3 Rechargeable Battery Universal Charger will charge any size NiMH battery. This device will recharge up to eight AA or AAA batteries; four C or D batteries; or even a single 9-Volt battery. The PS3 is perfect for high battery usage households, and it is capable of recharging batteries over 1000 times. If your family or business burns through piles of regular alkaline batteries, grab yourself a stack of NiMH rechargeables and the Rayovac PS3, and start saving money.

Why Rechargeables
Today's high-drain, electronic devices demand rechargeable NiMH batteries. NiMH batteries actually last longer than alkaline batteries in most high-tech devices and they can generally be recharged up to 500 times. This high-volume rechargeability results in cost-savings that can add up to thousands of dollars. Plus, with Rayovac NiMH batteries, there are no "memory" problems -- recharge your Rayovac batteries any time, even if they are only partially drained.

Usage Tips

  • Always charge NiMH batteries before first use
  • For maximum performance, charge batteries prior to using if stored for more than one month
  • NiMH rechargeable batteries are available in AA, AAA, C, D, and 9-volt sizes
  • NiMH batteries can be disposed of with regular trash -- NiMH is safe for the environment

3 out of 5 stars Very bulky   October 9, 2008
I ordered this item based on very positive reviews however what I failed to notice was that this is a very bulky product. I wanted to have it so that I can charge my camera battery. However when I recieved the product I realized that I cann't carry this easily with my camera as it is so bulky.

I haven't used the product yet so it might be good in terms of functionality but won't be much useful to me due to its size when there are lot of compact products already available in the market.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good charger.. but.. (could be a little better)..   October 8, 2008
I have used this Rayovac for some time now (model PS3) and here are my thoughts... It is a pretty good charger for different sizes except for 9V. It charges my for rechargable Energizer C's just fine (rayovac doesn't sell rechargeable c's, I have checked everywhere). The unit smells funny when charging like a heated-plastic smell. (don't stand by it) It takes the entire overnight to charge your batteries. (could be faster)
Overall good, I would suggest to the makers to test and eliminate the smell and to get recharging abilities much faster. 3 1/2 stars.

5 out of 5 stars charger   October 1, 2008
Rayovac Charger works great. I like the fact you can charge several different types or batteries and especially a large number of AA batteries, which I use a lot.

5 out of 5 stars Invaluable for folks with kids!   September 2, 2008
My husband and I welcomed our son in April and with the swing, bouncer, muscial toys, not to mention the camera, we have found this charger invaluable. We have saved so much money in batteries by having this charger and rechargable batteries. It works great, and holds different sizes at the same time, which makes it convenient and fast to recharge. There is nothing worse than a screaming baby and dead batteries in the swing that will comfort him!

5 out of 5 stars More convenience, less waste with rechargeable batteries   August 25, 2008
With a cordless keyboard, cordless mouse, digital camera, console game controller, cordless electric toothbrush, battery powered alarm clock, walkie-talkies, flashlights, and various remote controls, we chew through a lot of batteries. Even though we took care to collect our batteries for drop-off battery recycling, it still felt like a waste - bad for the environment and money down the drain. Not any more! I've been using this charging unit for almost a year, and it is such a relief to have batteries on hand and ready to go when needed.

I chose the Rayovac because it could accept a wide variety of battery sizes. It is solid and heavy, not suited for business trips, but perfect for living under a desk. It holds a lot of batteries and is very economically priced.

WIth our old charger, I had to be careful about over-charging, so we had to remove the batteries once they were charged. However, the charged batteries tended to discharge quickly, even if not in use, so we sometimes had to charge them several times just to have some ready when needed. It was such a pain, and many times we had to wait overnight for charged batteries. Well, you still have to wait for batteries to charge, but the ones that you've already charged are going to work just fine and be ready when you need them.

We've used several different brands of batteries, but the ones I prefer are the Sanyo eneloop which seem to discharge more slowly and last longer. I put some of these in my Apple wireless keyboard and they lasted for more than four months before I had to recharge them.
