Amazon.com Product Description
Whether you commute to work or school on the freeway, drive for a living, or just like to go on an occasional recreational trip, the Whistler Pro-73 Radar/Laser Detector is an invaluable addition to your motor vehicle. The Pro-73 gives you 360-degree protection from a full range of detection signals, including X, K, Ka, and safety band radar, as well as laser and VG-2 detector detection. In addition, the Pro-73 is specially equipped to detect the rapid bursts of POP mode radar, which last less that 1/15 of a second and are undetectable by non-POP-equipped detectors.

Lightweight, compact, and sleek-looking, the Pro-73 can fit right by your windshield, giving you easy visual access to the intense blue digital text display. But for your added convenience, the Pro-73 also comes with a Real Voice Alert that can be turned off to avoid disturbing your sleeping passengers. And to limit false alerts, the Pro-73 gives you a choice of three different detection modes, letting you avoid the annoyance of repeated automatic door opener and burglar alarm warnings when you're driving in the city, but letting you know if signal strength becomes strong.

So with the Whistler Pro-73 Radar/Laser Detector in your car or truck, you'll be prepared for just about anything when you're behind the wheel.

Note: Radar detectors can be used without restriction in well over 40 states, but restrictions apply in a few states. Please check with your state department of motor vehicles or highway patrol if you have questions about whether there are restrictions in your area.

What's in the Box
PRO-73 radar detector, windshield bracket, dash pad, straight power cord, hard wire kit, and owner's manual.

Have not had a chance to use it much but it seems to work well and for the price i am happy with it. I would like to disconnect the x alarm in highway mode as i do not need it but it seems i cannot do this when i read the manual. This is the only downfall i can find with this product

4 out of 5 stars Overall best in it's class ($50-$150)   April 19, 2007

Well after getting popped taking the kids to Disney World by a new unmarked Dodge Charger and having to give an Attorney some money to rid the fine and points, I started looking. I was not in a position to buy a $300-$400 detector, but wanted a great one. I looked everywhere and in the end this is the best of the best (price class) in every radar/laser shootout on the web. It will detect every laser/lidar on the cops market today. Every Radar band too. Cops mostly just using the K and Ka,Ku bands now anyway. This has it all. Beautiful display and overall nice quality. Like with any detector you have to be smart about speeding. It works and well before I saw the squad car in my experiences (1 month). This is Radar Roy's top pick in class along with several other sites. Do your homework,Whistler is better than any Cobra or Uniden and even better than my old retired Bel Vector. Overall I would say this is the 4th best on the market today next to Passport,Valentine One, and Bel. Very satisfied!

One more thing, placement of your detector is soo important. I drive an 07' Camry and it is recommended to mount it directly center of windshield and halfway up the window. NOT behind rear view mirror. High=Bad! If you are in a taller vehicle such as SUV mount it center windshield and as low as possible, but NOT behind windshield wiper or laying on the dash either. It's suggest about 2-3" above wipers on taller vehicles. This all makes sense because of where laser/lidar is aimed low on the front of your vehicle and unlike radar is only about 3 feet wide for detecting.

Do your homework and agree this is a great product.

This product detects radar about as well as my 5 year old son. In reality he can see the cop before the detector picks anything up. Only purchase this product if you would like to waste your money.

Got this for Christmas and it has already saved me from two potential tickets. On City-2 mode it gives zero false alerts. Highly recommend it for anyone looking at detectors under $150. Top rated in its class on almost every review site!
