Amazon.com Product Description
The Motorola Talkabout FV200AA GMRS/FRS Two-way Radios, which replaces the T4500 model, offers active families a simple and affordable way to stay in touch. With an improved outdoor range of up to five miles, these sleek and compact, water-resistant radios can fit in the palm of your hand or into a pocket.

The FV200AA features audible call tones that grab the attention of your family and friends before you even start talking. A talk confirmation tone will sound when the push-to-talk button is released -- signaling when the other user has stopped talking. An audible low-battery alert ensures that you'll have plenty of notice that your batteries are running low.

Note: The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires that operators on General Mobile Service (GMRS) and Private Land Mobile (PLM) frequencies obtain an FCC license prior to use. To learn more, please visit the FCC web site.

Product Description
Its featherweight, compact design is ideal for campers and hikers, and its rugged structure can survive tough treatment. The Motorola Talkabout FV200AA offers a range of up to 5 miles1 for indoor and outdoor communication. With an optional armband and ear buds, the FV200AA is within easy reach, making it perfect for runners, bikers or those who are simply on the go. And with 22 channels and the standard scan feature, this two-way radio makes it easy to stay in touch while you are out and about. The FV200AA uses both FRS and GMRS frequencies providing more channels. This two-way radio requires an FCC license, as do all GMRS two-way radios.

3 out of 5 stars fun for kids, but not huge range   October 24, 2008
K. Stewart (Connecticut)
This walkie talkie set is perfect for kids because it doesn't have many buttons. The range, however, is not 5 miles.

3 out of 5 stars Good for the price   September 30, 2008
Berenice De La Cruz
These walkie talkies work well. However, the range is very short when there are small hills around. Also, make sure you buy rechargable batteries (sold separately) because you have to change the batteries every week and a half. Very portable and durable.

2 out of 5 stars Purchased for a cruise vacation   August 4, 2008

We purchased these to use on a cruise ship during vacation. The range was not sufficient to be useful. If you are purchasing for this purpose suggest you look at something with more transmitting power.

1 out of 5 stars speaker broken   July 3, 2008

I don't expect much from $20 walkie-talkies, but one of the units had a broken speaker right out of the package! And the process for replacing/repairing is worthless since it's sold through an Amazon affiliate, not Amazon itself.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Clarity   April 27, 2008

We bought these Motorola FV200s to replace our older model Walkie-Talkies (Motorola T6220). Unfortunately, the clarity of the reception on the FV200s is horrible compared to our older model. We bought the FV200s because they take regular batteries (more convenient than rechargeable batteries when your batteries start going dead while out & about) and because of the style and the price. Unfortunately, the clarity is so poor that we constantly have to ask each other to repeat each others' transmissions. I do not recommend this model.
