Pole saw works great July 22, 2008 I have used this pole saw attachment several times and it works great so far. The only complaint I have is that I can't find any extra extension parts to make it even longer than the ~10 feet it is to get the top of some of the larger trees in my yard. I think the family that lived at my home prior to me never trimmed any of the trees, so the tops are not very symmetrical.
A big help May 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this to help my dad trim the branches on his large oak trees. He was very pleased to find how easy cutting them had just become. No more ladder and balancing himself on it. Also the speed to cut through them with ease. We are very satisfied with the Troy-Bilt and it's 2 year warranty.
Good unit but a little short May 1, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Not bad of a unit. Takes a bit of practice to make sure the chain doesn't get ragged on something in which it wont turn. My biggest beef though, is the pole portion is too short. I kept wishing for another 3-4 extra feet of extension which really helps with higher trees. Since the pole section is just a generic drive unit, I'm wondering if I can just purchase an additional pole. However, no info on this exists in the manual or manufacturer's web site.
As for power, that of course depends on what type of trimmer motor is powering the unit. I have a Troy-Bilt 31cc 2 cycle and it has more than enough power -- I only had to use full throttle on the trunks, never on the thick branches since there was never a lack of power. The modulation of the throttle with the trimmer motor makes it wonderful to use.
Great Pole Saw May 20, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was a little skeptical of buying this attachment at first but since it had good reviews I went ahead and purchased it.In a word it works GREAT. This saw is well built, better so than some other add on saws I looked at and is a very handy tool to have. As usual Amazon shipped it very fast.
Incomplete Item April 12, 2007 4 out of 16 found this review helpful
I should have taken the word "attachment" a lot more seriously! I assumed that if I ordered this gadget, it would be complete so I could start using it immediately. Not so. On receipt I found out I had to own a troy-Bilt trimmer, which this attaches to. My annoyance is that nowhere in the descriptions is the need for the other item ($50)made CLEAR. It may be a great gadget, I still haven't been able to try it.
