Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The TS-A1682R speakers with polypropylene woofers reinforced with Aramid fibers stands up to the stress of high-volume playback. Rubber surrounds help keep cone movement smooth and accurate, so the bass stays tight and clear. Precision midrange drivers add vibrancy and clarity to the vocals and instrumentals so you can hear everything from the stroke of the violin to the chimes of the percussion. The dome tweeters and super tweeters disperse sparkling highs so impress your friends with concert-quality tunes. Sensitivity - 91 dB Top-mount depth - 2-5/16 4-ohms Impedance 5 Cutout Diameter or Length Professional installation required

5 out of 5 stars 1996 Saturn SC2, excellent sound, beautiful bass, clear highs.   September 7, 2008
Cheshire Cat (Lansing, MI USA)
In our '96 Saturn SC2 the factory speakers just couldn't handle the bass that the factory stereo could put out! These things fixed the problem instantly, and I imagine could easily handle some amps to give them even more kick. I am pretty sure the lower ohm rating, 4 ohms instead of 6 ohms for the factory ones, means that they are louder at a lower volume level than the factory speakers, while I know that lower ohms can increase the number of speakers on a single circuit. While I am not a heavy duty audiophile, I do think that Pioneer is a very high quality product, for the price range. If you are really picky, you could go with their D- or even PRS- series, but you'll pay about $200-$300 a pair.

4 out of 5 stars nice upper mids and highs   August 18, 2008
avalanchez71 (new york)

better than my polk speakers rounded out my 3 10 subs perfect
1 year runing them hard with 125 watts rms no problem yet
not much for mid base tried a set in my other car with a stock
system not very good their, i think a amp to run them nice is a must
dont expect any base from 6 1/2 at least not those

4 out of 5 stars Good for the price   May 10, 2008
R. Fennell (Atlanta Ga)
I have a 99 Mitsubishi Galant My front speakers were blown(factory) After installing these speakers. New life has now been brought back to my car. I'm not a speakerphile so the technical jargon about watts and ohms I don't get. In laymans terms these are great speakers for the price. the dome tweeter puts out a great sound for highs for those who are into strings and vocals. and it takes a pounding with the high volume I play my music at If you're going to install these yourself get yourself some metal screws and a metal driil bit cause these speakers don't match the same holes as the factory, I had to make my own. I also bought the 5 way 6 X 9( but I haven't installed them yet. stiil have the factories in now these 6 1/2 make good front door speakers if your looking for bass or to use these as rear speakers in your car then I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a bass alternative in the rear. Good for mids and highs but lousy bass. Not to mention the good price

4 out of 5 stars Great speakers   March 13, 2008

The mids are excellent but the bass is not all that great. I connected them to my system and I am really pleased with the sound.

4 out of 5 stars Clear, but weak bass response   January 26, 2008
mikew (Tucson, AZ)
I replaced the rear stock speakers in an older Honda Accord. I had already upgraded the fronts to an older version of this Pioneer speaker. The bass response now seems clearer, but maybe weaker than the old stock speakers. The highs and mids improved substantially.
