This is a piece of junk. The unit is stainless steel which is a plus. I will give them that. That is why I bought it. I thought it would last. I could not even use it one time. When you turn on the water at low volume the plastic fittings come off. They strip out and will not hold. DO NOT BUY!

This product can be summed up in one word - leaks. It is very disappointing as the float valve appears to work well and the bowl is well made. The hose connection assembly is a significant weakness. I've returned the product and will try another brand.
Leaks too much July 7, 2010

Where the hose connects to the unit, they used plastic fittings. This fitting leaked in 2 separate places. I was not able to stop either of the leaks, as I tighten it the plastic would start to strip. They say don't over tighten but I could not stop the leaks. Sent back item. I have the "big husky" which uses metal fittings and works great but doesn't look as good, I'll go with what works rather than looks good. Side by side I'll take this product anyday but if you keep it in your house, you've got to trust it not to leak while your away at work or where ever! They should put a brass fitting on it so one can tighten it down enough to stop leaking then they would have a great product.

I have been looking and looking for a dog water bowl that can keep my two labs hydrated and decided to buy this product because of the above average reviews on this product. Unfortunately, I found the product a leaker. The float mechanism is designed well but I could not first get it to fill up at all. I discovered that there was no hole or passage way from the water line to the float valve. I had to drill a small hole to make it work. Next, after getting the bowl to fill the connection to the water line simply would not stop leaking. I have tried and tried all sorts of ways to make the leak stop and it will not stop. Thus, I had to resort to trashing this product. There must not be any quality control at the factory.

Hose connection leaks quite a bit. Returned to seller. According to many of the other negative reviews I had better looks elsewhere.
