Product Description Great for cats and dogs, this fully automatic pet feeder features a tough plastic base that holds a food reservoir for food "on demand." The electronic pet feeder's simple, programmable electronics prompt the feeder to dispense portions from 1/4 to 2 cups at three selected times per day. The unit can be set to meet scheduled feeding times and amounts when caretakers are away, but it is not meant to replace human care--please be sure someone still visits the pet daily. The unit's hopper accommodates a full range of dry food sizes, shapes, and types. The feeding bowl is removable for easy cleaning. Required batteries, which are not included, sustain a long battery life of six months. One-year limited warranty.

Does not work! March 16, 2010 Curt Dugal (USA) I only give it 1 star because AMAZON won't let me give it ZERO stars
This product may or may not work for small size dog food, but it does not work for large kibble.
The food bridges inside the container and the paddle wheel advances nothing into the bowl & YOUR DOG GOES HUNGRY!
DO not buy this product!!!
Works well overall March 15, 2010 N. Dammert (Rochester, MN) I got the Pet Bistro very quickly and in good shape. It took my cats to realize, the machine was going to feed them, about two seconds. I measure the food that was coming out and it is 1/4 or 1/2 of a cup depending of what I programed, so that part works well. The only problem is that the machine has like 4 different compartments inside, that rotate to get the food and my cats can get almost all the content of their next 1/4 cup meal. That is not a problem to me because I program the machine to give my two cats 1/2 cup of food twice a day, so they end up eating 1/4 that the machine gives them and the other 1/4 getting the kibbles with their paws. At the end they eat the same, but not in the ideal way. I also think that if you have a cat, or dog that can move the machine so much tat it would open, then this is not for you. I'm super happy with my purchase and my cats are happy too.
Great feeder for my pup! March 15, 2010 Toria Hotaling (Annandale, Virginia) We purchased this feeder just before we went on vacation in January. Our purpose was to eliminate concerns while we were away because the person watching the dog was only able to come once a day. It has worked perfectly so far and we have it programmed for two feedings per day. The only minor thing I would have done is to make the hopper sturdier or thicker because thie plastic is fine for now, but I can see it cracking in the future.
Stop working after 6 weeks - very poorly made but $$ March 14, 2010 D. Strickland (Northern CA) The Good:
The kitties liked it right away and it made it much more convenient for us.
The Bad:
1. Very poor LCD display, hard to read unless you had it directly inline with your eyes (hard to do when it sits on the floor)
2. Timer is inaccurate - food comes out at different times such as +/- 20 minutes before or after the set time
3. If you don't want to constantly buy D size batteries you have to buy their custom AC power supply. The connector is a non-standard size (of course)
4. The food easily gets stuck in the top of the unit before it gets dumped into the bowl. The motor can't turn at that point. There are small plastic flaps that hold the food before is dispensed. Sometimes the food falls down and we've seen it get stuck and the motor isn't strong enough to over come it.
5. They used the absolutely cheapest parts and electronics for a $55 item (what did it cost to make, $7 probably).
I wish I had bought this feeder at PetSmart since they have a great return policy but with Amazon I'm lucky to get 30 days (and the real return policy is decided by the seller which for this unit isn't Amazon). I've been burned before with trying to return defective items bought here and will no longer buy anything other than books from Amazon.
nice product for the most part March 13, 2010 klk1780 I think this is a great product for the most part. It is well designed and even visually appealing. It works well, but my only complaint is that smaller cat food falls out out into the bowl too easily. My cat has learned that all she has to do to get more food out of it is to knock it around a little bit. Even just a tap or the smallest vibration will make food fall out into the bowl at any time. The main reason I purchased this product is so I could control how much my cat eats so that she can lose weight. But the way things are going, I think she's probably eating more now than before I purchased this product, because she can pretty much get more food for herself anytime she wants by giving it a little shove. Who knows how much she eats when I'm not home. But other than that, it does work as it should. It's very easy to program the mealtimes and quantity of food. It's perfect for when your cat is home alone when you're working or are gone for a couple days or go away for the weekend. I will just have to try some cat food with larger pieces to see if that solves the problem.
