This book represents a good background on the whys and wherefores of showing English Cockers, especially from the point of view of an outsider. With no real knowledge of showing dogs (as ours is a rescued pet), it prooves very interesting reading. The book is very much North American in content with nearly 100 pages dedicated to both early and modern breeders in the US and Canada. This is not a shortcoming for an Australian reader as it generally makes for interesting reading.
Photography is all black and white, and includes detailed grooming images and a collection of historical images as well as many suberb photos of various dogs. The pups in chapter 7 "Breeding the English Cocker" are a real treat.
All in all, worth the purchase for someone who considers an English Cocker more than just another dog
