Must read! January 6, 2009 Norma J. Worley (Augusta, ME United States) My Recycled Pets: Diary of a Dog Addict A MUST read for anyone who is involved in animal rescue, works in an animal shelter, any type of animal welfare or just loves dogs. Randi takes us on the most wonderful ride as she goes from shelter to shelter to help the most downtrotten dogs - the ones even the shelter staff say can't be saved. There were moments when I felt I was actually in her car stopping at shelters and then celebrating the dogs she rescued and at other times crying with her for the ones she could not save. I encourage anyone who loves dogs or is thinking of starting a rescue to jump in and fly with Randi throughout the Southern CA area. But hang on because you will be speeding from one shelter to the next all the while helping one dog at a time without taking a breath.
wonderful individual stories November 5, 2008 Marjorie Brown (Tampa, FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I loved how this is divided up into individual stories about each rescue. After the beginning information about the author, the stories begin. It took me 2 days to read the beginning and then 2 hrs. to read the individual stories. I just couldn't put it down. I hope she writes another book.
excellent set of stories! September 20, 2008 M H (NYC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i love the way she writes, and the way she expresses her thoughts and feelings. and i love each individual dog's story... 100% worth the $ for any animal lover, anyone interested in rescue, and anyone who has a dog of their own!! definitely a must read
Inspirational August 5, 2008 C. L. Harman (Omaha, Nebraska) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This was a great book and what made it even better was that it included resources at the end so you could get involved. The book is well written, draws you in and makes you feel like a part of each rescue and tragedy. I plan on reading this again and again. It gives you hope that one person can make a difference one or two dogs at a time
Very inspirational March 26, 2008 Leigh Westlawn (San Francisco, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I loved this book! I found it very inspirational and motivational. Thanks to people like Randi, I have the most amazing little rescue dog and I love reading about other successful rescues as well. As a dog lover who also sometimes volunteers for dog rescue in the Bay Area, I was touched by Randi's stories. I also love her spiritual approach, of searching for divine order in a chaotic world. The book has inspired me to begin volunteering/fostering for rescue again, and to give dogs that might appear unreachable a second chance.
