4 out of 5 stars Pretty good book.. Could use a bit tweaking   January 6, 2009
Nuthinbutboys (wouldn't you like to know)
I enjoy all of Nora Roberts books and after a few of her other series, thought this would measure up. Book 2 is pretty good.. not bad but it is lacking a few things, maybe it's the lack of steamy sex scenes or too much filler for other parts. I'm not sure. I like how Fox was asked to be the father of his sister's partner's baby. I like how she is incorporating the current views and generations into the stories. Book 1 was the best, but this was good. I like the interactions between Cal, Gage and Fox. It always is good entertainment!

5 out of 5 stars The Hollow   December 27, 2008
Jean M. Mantz (Pewaukee, WI)
Lives up to Nora Roberts' standards of excellent writing. It is another novel that you just don't want to put down. I am anxious to see how it all ends!

3 out of 5 stars Has It's Moments   December 23, 2008
Chelsea Marie Spencer
To start, I had trouble getting through this book the first time-it went from weird to boring and back in turns. I actually ended up listening to it on audio, only because I was determined to continue with the trilogy.

The Plot:

Fox and Layla are part of a group of six who are on a mission to fight an evil demon that soon threatens to take over Fox's home town, Hawkins Hallow. The are both gifted with unique psychic talents that include the ability to read minds. They find themselves drawn to one another as they work together to fight the demon.

The Best Parts of this Book:

Fox and Layla are actually very appealing characters, as are they all. Their romance is fun and fascinating, despite the distractions of the confused plot.

Why Only Three Stars:

This book is hard to get into. It begins to take a departure from logic and reason. The entire concept of the demon becomes less and less credible as the book progresses, and the explanations of it's existence are vague and flimsy. Equally weak are the 'ghosts' that constantly visit characters to deliver vague, fortune-cookie like advice.

Overall the concept is good, and there are some amusing portions, but the trilogy falls short of Nora Roberts' usual standard.

4 out of 5 stars Second in the "Sign of 7" trilogy.   December 22, 2008
mahikahn (Columbus, Ohio USA)
21 years ago three 10 year olds who were born on the same day, and are best friends, celebrate their birthday by sneaking into the woods to go camping & eat junk food. While there, they cut their wrists to merge their blood & become "Blood Brothers". But their childish ritual unleashes an ancient monster. Now every 7 years at their birthday the town goes crazy; murders, beatings, suicides, etc. This year it started months earlier and they know this will be the final showdown.

The basic plot of the series is good and I don't have a problem with the paranormal aspect as I expected it going into the first book

Why not a five? First, while I read the first book in the trilogy I`ve read a lot of books in between so it would have helped if there had been a review about the previous book in the beginning of this one.

Second, I could not tolerate the thing with Fox, Sage and Paula. I don't want to give it away to anyone, so I won't. I found it downright creepy, slightly nauseating and, at best, borderline incest. That none of the other characters, including Layla, had a problem with it was bizarre. Maybe this somehow factors into the next book but I'm not sure I have the stomach for it.

5 out of 5 stars Love it   December 15, 2008
Kellie J. Deane
This is one of the best books I've read lately. I love the author and her trilogies.
