Product Description Your character is your most valuable professional asset. Your long-term success depends upon it. If you want to enjoy the respect of your clients and co-workers, you must establish that you can be counted on to treat them fairly and honestly. In this case actions really do speak louder than words. Your conscience serves as a watchdog alerting you when you are in danger of an ethical misstep. The problem is that as you incrementally make small concessions to expediency over principle, your watchdog can be lulled to sleep. It’s time to rattle his cage and wake him up! A fast paced mix of theory and case studies, this book will keep you engaged and entertained. You’re sure to recognize yourself and your co-workers in the enlightening and often humorous scenarios.

It's not just ethics in the workplace; it's ethics for anyone. August 28, 2007 Lewis Brown Jr. (Gainesville, Florida) "Sleeping Dogs" is an appropriate name for this tiny, quick-read reference book since even those of us with the best intentions allow our ethics, like a drowsy canine, to drift off to sleep with time. Col. Mazzeo gives our slumbering ethical Fido an abrupt kick in the butt with his imaginary scenarios of familiar occurrences. His anecdotes are written in a "what if this happened to you" style and the reader is asked to mentally supply a "this is what I'd do" answer. After each imaginary occurrence the author applies a simple, 3-question test which determines the ethical appropriateness of the reader's imagined solution: Who benefits? Who suffers? What if the roles were reversed? I liked Col. Mazzeo's little book on ethics; and read it, cover to cover, in one sitting.
Business Ethics--it's not an Oxymoron Anymore!!! December 6, 2005 A. M. Morris (New York City) Now who would have ever thought a book about business ethics would not only be interesting, but thought-provoking and engaging!?! Not me--even when my bosses told me to research and create a course about the topic. "Sure sounds like an oxymoron," I grumbled to myself. But my research uncovered Mr. Mazzeo's book and my course has not been the same since! He provides a quick and easy 3-step process to decide if indeed a business issue is an ethical dilemma. Then, he provides ideas on how to handle it, and he does it all without pointing fingers or pretending to be holier-than-thou. He even provides some hilarious quotes! I contacted him to be sure I could use his ideas (it's ethics, remember?) and he was most gracious and gave me ideas and tips on how best to deliver the course. I have to run and order more of his books to give out after class....
