Fascinating facts from behind-the-scenes of The Annotated Godfather:
• Actor Richard Castellano (Clemenza) actually ad-libbed the now-famous line, "Leave the gun, take the cannoli."
• Nearly 750 extras were bussed to a location on Staten Island where the wedding scene was shot, along with thousands of cookies, yard-wide trays of lasagna, barrels of beer, gallons of wine, and a six-foot-high wedding cake. The food had to be replenished every day for four days.
• Marlon Brando was crowned best prankster on the set and awarded a heavyweight-style belt emblazoned with the title "Moon Champion," in reference to his favorite type of prank. • In order to help actor Al Martino (Johnny Fontane) express emotion in his scene with Don Corleone, Marlon Brando surprised him by whacking him across the face just before the cameras started to roll.
• The woman who kisses newborn Michael Rizzi on the church steps is Italia Coppola, Francis's mom.

An Inside Look at a Great Motion Picture September 27, 2008 Michael B. Druxman (Los Angeles) Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: From the Secret Files of Harry Pennypacker Shadow Watcher Nobody Drowns in Mineral Lake Works of great art do not come easy, and the motion picture version of THE GODFATHER is no exception. This is a movie that almost didn't get made and, while in both production and post-production, it was plagued with one problem after another. This superb book not only contains the complete screenplay for THE GODFATHER, but "author" Jenny M. Jones has also filled her volume with interesting little known facts about the movie's history. Everything you could ever want to know about this great classic motion picture is in the book, including background information about cast and crew, production details, goofs, deleted scenes and plenty of photographs. A fascinating read. Michael B. Druxman, author of ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD
The closest thing to watching the movie July 29, 2008 Quilmiense (USA/Spain) This is a beautifully edited book. It has all the information you will ever want about Godfather 1st Part. Pictures in every page; very juice and informative text on the sides; nice print size; the full movie script; brief bios of the main actors. It's got it all. The non plus ultra of Godfather fans. The information is given very friendly-like, not like from a hyper-fanatic, but restrained, and from one who knows the kind of details that will interest most of us readers. The price is also unbeatable, at least right now, so buy it now or never. I hope they will do another like this for the second part. The closest thing to watching the movie itself.
Filled with Trivia; A Must-Have for Every Godfather Fan June 14, 2008 Matthew Foster (Northwest Arkansas) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is a must-have for all of the Godfather fans out there. Almost every page has interesting trivia or little-known facts about the movie or its production. The only drawback to the book is that it only covers The Godfather, and not The Godfather Parts II or III. I take it that the author is working on additional books for these movies.

This book is perfect for THE Godfather fan. The entire script is in the book along with many details and pictures. Notes by Coppola are written out to the side. My husband wants to watch the movie while looking along in the book. Great gift!
