Cesar is our pack leader December 2, 2008 R. N. Hartman (TN) If you've watched Cesar then you know how amazing his message is. This book, when reading it, make you feel like he is narrating an episode in your ear. Its a wonderful book that breaks down the information into smaller segments so that you can focus on a particular subject and also allows you to get more detailed information on the subjects he teaches! LOVE IT
Seriously Over Rated November 23, 2008 Riggs (Chgo) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
1. He is not an expert on animal/dog behavior. 2. Does not practice current scientific findings on canine behavior and/or training by the Animal Behaviour Inst. or by the American Assc. of Pet Dog Trainers. Nor approved by either. 3. Not positive based. 4. Yet another media based push & sell by non-professionals. Dogs are not objects, they are living beings with thoughts, emotions, feelings and are prone to most mental, physical problems & diseases as humans. Just as humans learn best by positive, stress free, stimulating, fun enviroments & teachers so do our dogs. I would strongly suggest the dog training books by Pat Miller-very very good and lessons laid out quite well- From basic to "I'm stumped". And can be bought here too! I had a "biter" only to find that my dog was noise/sound sensitive, the litter grew up in an area of the home with very little human home sounds. Once I discovered that (which took a small library & conversations with a host of professionals, only then did I figure it out on my own by putting all the pieces together and my dog's young history) I then found Pat Miller's books which led me down the correct path in helping my dog overcome his fears. He no longer bites, he is very very smart & loving, but he does still notice every little sound, even the vets office music, and he will startle with a sudden noise-much like a horse. But zero bites! TG I found out about desensitization, counter conditoning, and positive training. I have a healthy wonderful weimariner-my best bud.
Amazing November 23, 2008 cw (Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Cesar is so in touch with Nature, we should all strive for this in our lives. Our Animals will thank us and so will our human friends. He gives us tools and advice on using them, but, in the end it all comes back to treating a dog like a dog and not a object.
Did not like this method November 17, 2008 Dawn Slavings (Central Illinois) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
It is just my personal taste, but I consider this not a nice way to train your dog. There are other methods out there that use different methods.
Necessary For All Dog Owners November 4, 2008 Kristina Kazakoff (Buffalo, New York) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
After reading Cesar's first book and becoming familiar with his training and teaching methods, I struggled with translating those techniques to suit what my dog needed and what I wanted. This book made it all come together and more. I highly recommend this book and suggest reading Cesar's first book in addition.
