Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com
Each half-hour episode will present an entertaining and informative portrait of a select breed. In addition to the history, lore and general specifications of a breed, programs include examples of dogs in a variety of situations, including at home, work, play, training or in a confirmation show. Moreover, it's not only the dogs that viewers learn about, but their owners as well. Interesting and charismatic owners provide a rich backdrop to the profile of a specific breed, plus they provide the important human-animal connection that viewers can readily and enthusiastically identify with. The renowned Iditarod event commemorates a historic race to save lives in Alaska in the 1920's. Several teams of Siberian Huskies ran hundreds of miles across the vast state to transport a serum for diphtheria. The epidemic was killing young children. Due to the Huskies' efforts, many lives were saved. The Husky's nature has always allowed it to run long distances -- enthusiastically. Iditarod volunteer Barbara Schaefer shows Husky owners how to properly train and safeguard their teams in a Mushing clinic in Northern California.Claudia and Tom Cygnar have one favorite winter activity: snow sledding. It's a passion they share with their teams of Huskies. This particular weekend, Claudia is running her team of four Siberians four miles. Tom is racing his six Alaskan Huskies six miles. The Alaskan Husky is a hybrid dog: part-Siberian, part-Hound and a mix of other breeds.
