Effective low-stress nail grinder July 18, 2010 E. Brandt (Laurel MD USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great little tool for grinding down dog's nails. My dog is much happier with it than with cutting her nails. It has two speeds, one works best for shortening the nails, the slower one for shaping the ends. Easy to use and low stress on the dog. A good value.
Great Toe Nail File for Dogs July 15, 2010 Chocolaholic (Dutchess, NY US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We have a thirteen year old Bison Frisee and we babysit for our daughter's eight month old Beagle.
For anyone who has ever cut their dogs toe nails, you might have found, as I did,
that they do not like to have their feet touched, let alone have their nails trimmed. Then there is always the danger of cutting the nail too short and the toe bleeds profusely. It was not fun for me or the dogs.
I heard commercials for powered dog nail trimmers and did some research. The Oster Gentle Paws Cordless Rotating Nail Trimmer seemed the best because it has a normal grinding stone which can be replaced. I did not want to play with replacing sand paper on a wheel.
This trimmer had good reviews and all of them were on target:
-Both dogs actually LIKE having their nails filed because the gadget is so quiet, it does not frighten them. Believe it or not, they actually lay down relaxed when they see the trimmer.
-There is no need to trim the nail too short with the clippers because the trimmer cleans off the rough parts and makes the nails smooth and not scratchy.
-It has two speeds and a guard (to protect against cutting the nail too short). I don't find a need to use the guard and I use the high speed, under the nail and on the sides of the nail, after cutting the tip off with the clippers.
In case you are interested, I use cat clippers that are shaped like little scissors. They are easier for me to handle and safer for small dogs' nails.
Bogies nails July 9, 2010 di 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really love this product. and I agree it's much better than the other unnamed product. It is more powerful, with my large dog i really needed. The product itself, is much more substancial then the one I had before. I am very pleased with this nail trimmer.
Great Product July 4, 2010 Taylor (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received this product a couple days ago for my 12 week old Chocolate Lab puppy. I put batteries in it and turned it on, I was expecting it to be a lot louder than it actually was, even on high. So I followed instructions and let my puppy sniff it, when she just sat down and continued playing I turned it on. For a few moments she stared at it then hopped up and pounced on it. She had no fear what so ever, and later that day I used it on her. She was laying down and she stayed perfectly calm for me. I had no help, and didn't need any. I gave her a treat after I finished and now whenever I pick it she sits by my feet and lifts her paw for me. I think she likes it, it works, and it's a much better alternative to clipping her nails with huge clippers that look like shears. I am very pleased with this product.
It Works!!! May 29, 2010 Paul G. Allen 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We ran the nail trimmer near our dog a few times a day for a couple of days before actually using it on his way too long nails. By the time we used it he sat calmy and allowed us to remove some of the nail on each foot. We used it every other day, a little at a time, and now his nails are under control. The machine is also very quiet which I believe helped him accept the trimmer. Overall excellent product.
