5 out of 5 stars Great device for my Dobe   November 5, 2008

I highly recommend this rechargable device over the cheaper one where you'll end up paying just as much in replacing batteries. It's really a no brainer for a better device. The charger can charge both the collar and remote at same time.

My doberman is a very smart dog, sometimes too smart for his own good. He had some perks which I couldn't seem to control like excessive barking, jumping up on people, and etc. Obedience training only helped a little and I never liked shocked collars. However trying to dicipline him wasn't effective. I finally cracked and decided to get a shock collar and decided on this one because of reviews, build quality, and features. I was putting this on my dog so I wasn't going to skimp on such a device. You can reprogram the remote to function certain ways and the same remote can be used for upto 3 dogs. I have mine for negative tone delay before stimulation and set to 4 intensity. He respond very well after he got the first shock and seem to repond very well to just the beeps. For example I have a door to the garage with windows half way up, when I go outside he would jump up on the door to look out the window and start barking, when I try to dicipline him he would ignore me. With the collar on the second he did that again I hit the tone button, didnt even need to shock hi

5 out of 5 stars The BEST Training Collar Ever!!!   September 10, 2008

I have tried every collar there is for my 2 1/2 year old Rottweiler. She has three head collars, 2 harnesses, pinch collars, choker chains and regular nylon collars. NOTHING works on her. She has been through 4 months of obedience training and my husband and I have spent hours working with her and walking her daily. We love to go hiking but, she had a bad habit of lunging at people and bikes. Once she got worked up from seeing another hiker or biker, we could not seem to calm her back down. She just became crazy in the head and hard to control. It became so bad that we had to stop hiking because she scared other people and with her size, 112 pounds, it was really taking a toll on our shoulders trying to keep her under control. She was never aggressive, not growling or biting, just lunging and hard to keep hold of. Several times, she pulled me off my feet. This collar has been a miracle for us. She is a perfect little angel now. She gets over and sits on command when a jogger or car goes by and if I sense she is going to jump, I give her the warning beep. It only took about a week of using the "shock" before she got it and now we almost never have to use the stimulation. The beep is all she needs now. I must admit, the price kept me from buying it sooner but, I wish I would have got it a long time ago. This is the solution for problem behavior. I highly recommend this product and it has been the only thing that has worked for her. It is so nice to have a well behaved dog. All the training she went through made a difference too. She had the knowledge, she just refused to obey until we had this collar. It is worth the price.

5 out of 5 stars The best of the Petsafe   September 3, 2008

Don't waste your money purchasing other things, this is the best that you can get to train and educate your dog. It help me a lot with the excessive barking of my mastiff and another miss behaviors. Remember that you have to be very responsible following up the reasons of the miss behaviors before you start correcting them. It help me a lot to follow the program of Cesar Milan, but I need to use this in some occasions. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Great for the price   June 30, 2008

This worked very well, the product is sturdy and exactly as described. My only issue is that there are only 9 settings for the buttons and it so happend the setup I would've liked was not one of them. Other than that I agree with other reviewers, 1 and 2 are barely a feeling and 3 is unpleasent. My dog responded very quickely once I acclemated her to the good and bad sounds and after about a week I had broken her of the issues I had, I just have to be careful because I dont use is continuously so I have to go through the training process each time I decide to use it for training, otherwise she is unsure of the reasoning for being shocked. If I used it continuously 3 or 4 days a week I would avoid the issue. Shipping was extremely fast and it came in brand new in box condition. Definately reccomend this product.

5 out of 5 stars Skeptical, but now a believer   June 20, 2008

I was very opposed to this collar, as I was afraid that the "shock" was inhumane!!!!!! My dog was only about 15 months old, with a very high drive--she is a standard schnauzer--and her constant barking, jumping up on people, and her inability to obey commands when she was distracted by other dogs was making me crazy. She was becoming very high maintainence, and I knew that if we didn't address it before she got any older, we were in for a pet that was not going to be enjoyable. She went to puppy training and obedience training and did very well as she is an extremely smart breed and she was eager to please us. Unfortunately, that was all short lived if there happened to be a stranger--person, truck, dog, bird, rabbit, etc.--in sight. This collar was purchased as a last resort before spending many more dollars on advanced training in our home. DO NOT HESITATE--BUY IT NOW!!!!! We started using this collar immediately after the charge was complete. After a few days of using the tones only, we used the "shock" once on #3 as she seemed to not feel #1 & #2 when she was in a barking frenzy. That was 4 months ago and we never had to use the "shock" again!! It works like a charm!! Now, every time she does any undesirable behavior, we use a 2 word command and the tones and she stops the behavior immediately!! She can wander around without a leash in the front of our house and she listens to all our commands, even with birds, rabbits, people, dogs, etc. around. People that see her without a leash are impressed by her obedience and so are we!!!!!! The collar does not replace hard work and consistency, though, but it has made training much easier and it really hasn't taken her long at all to relate the negative tones with the negative behavior! WELL WORTH THE PRICE!!!!!!!!
