Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Like a blank canvas but much tastier, the ubiquitous corn or flour tortilla is the perfect vehicle for every sort of food. And taco-making-the art of filling tortillas with dozens of zesty and unexpected concoctions-turns the ordinary into the irrepressible.

Victoria Wise and Susanna Hoffman, both life-long tortilla aficionados, fill them with Fiesta Ground Beef, Chicken Mole, Spicy Shrimp Salad, Green Olive Cilantro Salsa Ancho Chili Sauce, Pear Lime Salsa, and much more.

Here are over 200 recipes for well-filled tortillas. Tacos from around the world-Portuguese-style Grilled Fish Taco, Oriental Stir-Fry Beef Taco, Thai-Style Shrimp Taco, add variety to the spice of such Cal-Mex favorites as Basic Beef Fajita Taco, Black Bean Taco, Chorizo Taco, Snapper Vera Cruz Taco, and Taco de Carnitas. Dessert tacos and tostada sundaes bring the most festive food into the most festive course.

Whether store-bought or home-pressed (the recipes are here, for corn and flour), a stack of tortillas means delicious, down-home, fun food for any occasion-to eat with your fingers in messy splendor. Selection of the Book-of-the-Month Club's The Good Cook Club. 250,000 copies in print.

3 out of 5 stars Great little cook book   July 13, 2008
P. Basile (Sanford, Maine)
This is a great cook book, I bought it with the Quesadilla maker, and so far it has been a great addition to my summer dinners.

5 out of 5 stars Lamb and Goat   June 20, 2008
'Mary Lou Cheatham' (author) (Louisiana)

The Well-Filled Tortilla Cookbook is fun to read for sheer entertainment. The notes in the margins and the introductions to the different sections are infomative.

We like the section called "Lamb and Goat" with its helpful recipes for cooking Greek dishes. There are many other international recipes with detailed instructions for preparation.

There are some unique salads and some enticing desserts included also.

I highly recommend this cookbook, which is off the beaten path.

1 out of 5 stars Not traditional Mexican cooking   May 7, 2008
No one (No where)
I was not happy with this book. I must admit I was looking for traditional Mexican or even modernized Mexican recipes but this is not it. If you are looking for authentic Mexican flavors you will not find it here. Mole is more than dumping some chocolate in a chile sauce. I had much better luck with Rick Bayless, and Diane Kennedy.

5 out of 5 stars Yea, baby!   September 2, 2007
C. Munson (Kansas, USA)
We made the Coffee Caramel Tostada Sundae's last night - oh my! I plan to make homemade tortillas this weekend. I have one child that LOVES mexican food, I got this for him and plan to try the quesadillas and salsas too. The pear-lime salsa sounds yummy.

4 out of 5 stars Tortilla's galore   May 7, 2007
Robert Petrillo (Lanesboro, MN USA)
A great book with simple and quick recipies. No need to run out to the store for soft tortillas. Just whip them up and they are good to go.
