5 out of 5 stars tburnette51   July 8, 2008

Meat grinder was a gift for my father. He said it was easy to use and works great for making ham salad. For simple grinding it gets the job done. Its seems well made for the price and was fairly easy to clean.

1 out of 5 stars This is not a Porkert---it is a Chinese counterfit   June 30, 2008

Real Porkert meat grinders are not made in China.

Porkert is a Czech manufacturer of cast iron products founded in 1881. The original factory still operates in the little town Skuhrov nad Bělou in the Czech Republic and makes its famous line of cast iron grinders. Porkert does not outsource its production to China. The following page---in Czech---shows all the meat grinders made today:

The packaging of a real Porkert has to say "Made in Czech Republic". Vintage meat grinders sometimes available on E-Bay may also have "Made in Czechoslovakia" labels.

The Czech press caried several stories about cheap Chinese counterfeits shipped in Porkert-labeled boxes.

Nice product, but it did not state it was made in China. Had I known I would not have bought it.

We make patatis skarv (potato baloney) every Christmas season. The Porkerts I bought were gifts to our sons, so they can keep the family tradition going. The grinders work well for making our tasty Swedish sausage.

My mother was so happy to receive this product. She thought she would never see this type a grinder again. Her original one she had over 30 years had lost a piece. She is sooo happy now!
