Product Description Leave the cleaning to a robot with this convenient machine. Its 14.4-volt rechargeable Ni-MH battery provides the power needed to clean hard floors, shop carpets, garage and basement areas, as well as industrial-floor surfaces. In addition, specially designed counter-rotating brushes spin almost 1,000 times per minute, sweeping up dirt and debris that cling to rough surfaces. Simply press the "clean" button and the unit sweeps under workbenches, cars, and other hard-to-reach places, picking up nuts, bolts, dirt, and more. For added convenience, "cliff" sensors keep it from falling down stairs or other vertical drops. The unit offers an oversized, bagless, easy-to-empty debris bin, and its power supply fully charges in seven hours. Accessories include a standard battery, a standard charger, a cleaning tool, and an owner's guide. The cleaning machine measures approximately 13 by 13 by 4 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

iRobot Dirt Dog is awesome October 4, 2008 Use this little worker in the garage and it will do the job! You do have to move out anything with strings or fringe-like material, but other than that it will perform nicely. We even put down a couple of nuts and bolts to see its real strength and it picked them up no prob.
Yes I would recommend this to anyone wanting a clean garage floor!
SKEPTIC TO BELIEVER September 26, 2008 I cannot give the Dirt Dog enough praise! As a single Dad and trying to keep up with work, house, yard, dog and 10 year old, I needed some help. Bless the single parents out there! My house only has tile and wood floors. After reading review after review saying the dirt dog was excellent on both, I had to order one. I wake up, get me and the daughter ready, feed the dog and turn on the Dirt Dog. When I come back from work we empty the Dirt Dog cleaning bin and Whoooooooo Doggggy! First time I used it I thought it had swept up the dog. I really didn't think my floors where that dirty! My daughter and I watched it for half an hour the first time sitting on the couch as it did it's job. My daughter noticed a little bug that was making it's way across the living room. The Dirt Dog just missed it on the first pass. We were screaming and yelling at the Dirt Dog to get it. We would yell "left" and the little Dirt Dog went right. We yelled "U-Turn" and it would go straight. The little bug was almost to safety when the Dirt Dog turned around like it was on a search and destroy mission and.........bug gone! I live in the desert so sand and dog hair are the challenges for our Dirt Dog (the occasional little bug)and all three are no problem! I am getting one for my garage next and then another for the upstairs. Then I am going to try the Scooba. This isn't going to completely keep you from pulling out the vacumm cleaner for areas the Dirt Dog cant get into, but for everyday cleaning .....Nice!! The battery lasts for almost 2 hours on mine after a few charging cycles were complete.I have never experienced a problem with our Dirt Dog yet. The only negative we have experienced is that my daughter is very upset that she doesn't get paid allowance for sweeping the floors downstairs anymore! She would like to see a poop patrol Irobot for our dog though! If your on the fence about this product, I recommend you purchase it! I don't think you will be disappointed. I know I am not!
Does a great job September 18, 2008 Does a great job and is a lot of fun to watch. So far it hasn't saved me much time because I watch it a lot, but it cleans in places that a broom can't. The little side brushes pick up cat hair from around the table legs that you can't even notice with the naked eye.
I also turned it loose on my bedroom carpet and under the bed it went. It was a lot easier than trying to shove a vacuum under and it works fine on short nap carpet.
I'm very fond of it and might just buy some for Christmas gifts.
Simply did not work properly September 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought the Dirt Dog to help keep my hardwood floors clean of cat hair, cat litter, and dust. I chose the Dirt Dog over the regular Roombas because it was less expensive and because of all the rave reviews it received on Amazon.com. I was so unhappy with the Dirt Dog's performance that I sent it back the week after I received it.
It simply did not do what it was supposed to do. The battery life was relatively short and the charge ran out long before my small living room floor was clean. Despite repeated passes over the area, it picked up only about half of the cat hair, litter, etc. It was not a case of the bin being too full because it didn't work well even when the bin was completely empty. There were other annoyances -- it's really noisy and it crashes into things like wood furniture hard enough to leave a little dent. The main complaint, however, was that at best it picked up half of the dirt and hair.
Amazon customer service was very helpful in processing the return. I now have a Roomba 560 and am much happier with it -- the vacuum works great, it's a little quieter, and it has sensors that slow it down a little when it nears a wall or piece of furniture. My advice is to pay a little more and get a real Roomba.
roomba rocks September 15, 2008 The dirt dog is different to the roomba in the way it is more of a floor sweeper than a vacuum. It picks up drywall chips, dog toy bits, screws and dirt way better than a roomba "indoor" type. This is by no means a shop vac. Dont let it near water or muck as it will still get damaged as would any auto home chore machine. This guy keeps my basement in great shape while my discovery runs the upstairs. recommended for all who do projects in the basement or garage, it will also find those pesky screws and parts that have been lost for years as it goes under the lowest shelves and bases. and remember, If you spend more time watching your roomba vacuum than you would actually doing the vacuuming, you are an addict!
