Magellan 4250 Refurbished January 7, 2009 Brian A. Sinkoff The 4250 is a great GPS especially at the refurbished price of $120. Works well, and I like making my cell phone hands free. It does give some pretty wacky routes. Still good to know where you are generally going on a long trip. The way it takes you my not be the most direct, but it does get you there. The feature where it tells you what at the exits ahead is nice to. Look for this unit as refurbished on Amazon, and just buy a square trade warranty which is pretty cheap
Great device January 6, 2009 Jeffrey K. Ho (Vancouver) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this device for my parents. Easy to use for older people that have little experience with technology. Good interface. Extra features are great. Device is thin and looks great. Pretty good for carrying around. of course it doesn't fit in your pocket. I havn't come upon the bugs that some people have reported. Device is great buy for $210. Would recommend it to others.
Could be better January 6, 2009 D. Neufeld (San Diego, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall I'm satisfied with this GPS, though there is one thing I would change: The power & antenna cables do not plug into the mounting bracket, they plug into the GPS directly. This means every time you remove the GPS or return it to the mounting bracket you have to also plug / unplug your cabling again.
4250 Leads the Way January 6, 2009 B. Rashka Pros: Device has a good look and feel(big screen but small depth). It has helped us find our way several times on our travels through the holidays. 4.3" screen makes the visual very easy to see and read road names. Most used items are selectable right from the main map screen or can be toggled through the choices. Very user friendly with all the functionality available at the main map screen. I bought this unit on Cyber Monday so it can at a very good price. I'd buy it again. Cons: Sometimes it seems to take about 3-4 minutes for the unit to recognize where it is. It looks like it is connected with 3 satellites or more but the delay is there. It can be a little frustrating since you don't know if there is a problem with the address or if there is an issue with the GPS. This delay is not always seen. Bluetooth: nice feature but the speaker is on the back. When mounted on the dash or window, the speaker is facing the windshield. The audio is just not loud enough with the sound projected against the car windshield. It works great when holding the unit in my hand but then I may just use my phone. It may work better on cars where there isn't such a large distance from the seated position in the car and the windshield or if mounted closer on the dash.
This might have been a pretty good doo dad! January 6, 2009 Pain Killer (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I did everything like I was supossed to. I had to call an Amazon tech to make sure I got the right one. I put it in the truck, just in time for a trip to Houston after I had preprogramed it. I decided to stop off at Anuhuac to see a friend and after that some lady with an attitude monitoring the box started griping at me, telling me where I ought to turn to get back to where I would have been if I hadn't of gone twenty miles off course to see a friend. After half an hour of this nagging, I pulled over and ripped everything out, walked off the interstate a ways into a rice field and I shot the thing!! I then buried it in a shallow grave. Pay that kind of money for somethng to act like your wife while driving down the highway. That's why I bought the thing so I could leave her at home. She couldn't read a map either!
