a bit small October 11, 2007 Sasha L. (New York, New York) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
worked great, no leaks, but it did not fit that much. I would purchase a bigger one next time around.
Just the right size for the family and small suv August 31, 2007 Reversemidasman 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I rate it four stars and not five only because it needs really two people to help assemble it at one point. (ie. When attaching the top cover to the bottom via the half pre-installed hinges) Don't get me wrong, the instructions are really clear and with pictures and the hardwares comes in a small plastic bag. Its just a bit arkward to get the hinge bolts to aline to attach to the top cover piece, when you have the other person hold it in a somewhat open position so that you can line up the bolt and nuts. Other than that, the quality is very good grade of plastic, the rest of the installation was no problem at all because a good portion of it is already done when you pull it out of the box. You will need tools such as philips screw driver and pliers (or socket wrench)just to help tighten the bolts and nuts securely. The universal u-bolts mounting brackets to attach it down to your cars roof rack is very quick and easy. ( ie. you can take it off the car easily if you needed to.) Also, even with multiple holes already predrilled on the carrier bottom for mounting to your car, you may end up as I did to move my crossbars. So depending on your car model (Subaru), you may need a Torx screwdriver(hardware store, HomeDepot, Lowes, even Amazon has these) to loosen the bolt to move the Subaru roof top cross bars. Overall, very sturdy unit and the locks are very good quality locks, 2 of them. Convenient clam opening, like a footlocker trunk. It is the perfect size for my subaru Forester suv, and room for stuff that would of blocked up my rear window, and the kids don't have to sit cramped together. No wind noise or flapping during high speeds. The other added plus benefit I found is you can spot your car in the mall or supermarket parking lot very fast too.
Worked well for us August 15, 2007 P. Haas 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had to find a cargo box that was not too wide and not too long to place on the top of our truck camper for our trip on the Alaska Highway. Though it was a bit awkward, I was able to put it together myself. Don't expect a real firm feel to it but it does function very well and once closed and locked it was sturdy and secure. We had some pretty good rain and it remained dry. So I was very pleased overall. The price was right and with Amazon prime, it was the only way that I was going to have it in time for the trip since I couldn;t locate it locally. I ordered Sunday evening and it arrived as planned on Wednesday, We left on Thursday.
Works well with one slight problem July 8, 2007 P. Nice 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall the box did as it said that it would in regard to storage space, two sets of golf clubs fit fine. One problem we did find though was that the U-bars were not long enough to fit our Volkswagen factory racks. Other than that the box is doing just great!
Thule 682 Sidekick Rooftop Cargo Box June 12, 2007 Clarence D. Boyce 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Thule rooftop cargo box met all my expectations. It was easy to assemble and mount on my car roof. It was large enough to store all my luggage for a long road trip, and free up the interior space for passengers. It was also water proof, since I went through a couple of rain storms on my trip.
