This little horse worth every penny! March 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Do not expect to have a bulky and metallic radio like oldies, this radio is small, new, all plastic, lightweight, semi cheapo electronics, not to rude (a lot of internal coils can be distorted or bended due a lack of sealant because are aerial coils just made of wire), But if you take care to this radio you can have a very reliable performance into a very very low cost item. If someone ask me, I will not install this radio into a jumping and vibrating 4x4, but for a car, suv or for base station replacement this baby do the trick very well. The RF level is a luxury in this kind of low cost radios, and that additional feature is grateful. 4 wats output, good rf meter, channel knob not very well designed and flimsy (you need extra care on it and a gentle touch) but in overall, a great product. For the price no cons at all, if you expect more, spend more... RWR
Good radio with such a price February 8, 2008 The radio is over all good with such a low price. The broadcasting distance is about 5 miles on high way. All the channels are reset to channel 9 if you disconnect the power. That means by connecting the radio's power wire to the fuse or battery, when you turn off the car's engine, the power is still there and enables the radio to remember the channel you were using. By turning on/off the radio with the knob, the channel remains the same as you used before.
If you connect your cb radio's power to the cigarette liter, when turning off your car's engine, no power supply is there anymore and your radio will forget the channel you were using. Your radio will reset all the channel to channel 9.
This feature can be simply improved by a capacity -- my suggestion. Anyway, I'd like to rate it @ 4.5 stars, if no such a choice, then 5 stars.
Good choice December 18, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this as a gift for my dad. The price was very good and Midland quality is excellent. Its a nice compact setup with all the basic options you should need. The only complaint is I wish it would be offered as a set with an antenna. Which I purchased seperately at Radio shack.
cb radio December 8, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
this is a very good radio, espically for the money, installs almost anywhere, and the inline fuse that comes with it a nice add on. finding appropriate wiring for the antenna can be challanging if your local radio shack is umm...full of very "helpful" people... but its not hard... highly recomended
Great cheap cb radio! November 19, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the best cb radio for your value. This rivals the cheaper cb units in the 60-70 dollar range. The RF gain is not found on other units until you get to the $100 range. It is nice and compact and has pretty good volume output from the internal speaker. The only thing I don't like is the channel selector knob. The knob is not very fine tuned. Sometimes I hit it and it just starts going through all of hte channels like a scan but its not. But, you learn to deal with it and after awhile I know how it is and it works fine. Otherwise it is a great cb radio.
Remember though, the antenna and ground plane make most of the difference in range, the mic in clarity, and the radio is just a vessel. Plus a good swr tune does wonders as well.
