The clay is amazing--it really removes rust stains! It's just harsh on your wrist because you really have to rub hard for the deeper spots.

Had some tree sap spots on my Ranger that no amount of washing was taking off. Just a few minutes with this system and a follow up with some good wax had it looking (and feeling) better than it was when I bought it. I have used rubbing compound to accomplish the same thing and it was a heck of a lot of work compared to this and didn't have nearly as good a result.

I heard a lot of this a few years ago and decided to try it out myself. Like the other users wrote, the paint is smoother than a baby's butt after you're done with it. And I'd bet my car that it was better than when I drove the it off the lot simply because most cars sit out in the open for a while before they get sold.
The only problem is that it took me 8 hours to do the entire car. I guess if you wait too long in between clay barring, it takes a while to get all the crud off. If you do it more often, maybe twice a year, it should probably take less time.
For your reference, I have a Subaru Impreza. Now to try it on my 92 Miata whose paint has oxidized rather badly.

I've used clay bar kits from four different manufacturers. All did the job fine (though some old Meguiar's clay bar caused some minor scratches in one car's paint). That said, this Mother's California Gold Clay Bar kit is a GREAT clay bar kit and it's very well priced.
As long as Mother's continues to make this kit I will continue to buy it.

If you have never used a clay bar on your vehicle, you will be amazed at the results. Your car will feel like glass after you use this system. All those water spots you could never get off (even on glass) will be gone!
The nice thing about the Mother's kit is that it includes the spray detailer you need for the lubricant, and I think the Mother's clay bar is the best that I've used.
The bottle of wax is small, and not what I use, but it works just fine.
If your car has lost it's luster, this will help to bring it back!
(You may also need rubbing compound if it's oxidized, but that's another story!)
