5 out of 5 stars Peace of Mind   January 13, 2007

I've always wanted one of these since seeing similar things on school buses (in Australia). This is a well designed, well made item. The blade cuts a lot better than expected. I haven't found anywhere yet to test the business end - not for want of trying!

5 out of 5 stars Life Saver, Must have for Auto   January 11, 2007

I have always wondered with all the adverse weather we get here if one day I might need one of these. I have been lucky enough not to have to use mine but I have one redily avaliable in my car now after seeing a demo at a local fair. This little easy to use jem eased my fears a bit about getting out of my car should I have a stuck seatbelt or my automatic windows became stuck after impact or submersion. It's just a little extra comfort knowing I have it. It's fairly heavy at the end so it could be used as a weapon also if needed. Not a bad investment at all. Very pleased.

3 out of 5 stars A key element is missing   January 11, 2007

This is a good product, and would be essential to have in an emergency, however, it is supposed to be attached to the inside of your car using Velcro or double-stick tape. Are these key elements included in the box? No! Now I have to go out and buy something else in order to install it. I gave two of these to my children at Christmas--they are in their 20s and it's unlikely that they will take that extra step until I provide them with the needed materials. Dumb.

5 out of 5 stars Could Be a Lifesaver   September 1, 2006

Car side windows are tough and almost impossible to break without a tool. This tool has pointed heads on the hammer which will cause the tempered glass in side windows (NOT the windshield) to shatter when hit with some force. As in all emergencies the key thing is to calm youself so you can think clearly. Mount this tool where you can easily reach it and then practice locating it and removing it from the mounting bracket with your eyes closed. With this tool you can fairly easily break the window and cut your seat belt if needed so you can exit the vehicle, hopefully before it sinks, if you have driven into flood water. You can also use it to rescue yourself or someone else trapped in a vehicle as a result of an accident that has jambed the doors where they won't open. The Today Show on NBC just recently had a segment on escaping a sinking vehicle and showed this tool in use.

LifeHammer has over 25 years of experience in Europe and was introduced in the US in 1998. This a the Original, not a copy from Asia. Today, LifeHammer is used by numerous public safety accounts worlwide and can be trusted.
Mr. Picky "t_h_b", in case of emergency where should i put my bandage scissors or razor knife? in the glove compartment? well! if you're stuck, good luck with that.
About the thief, I am not sure that they've been waiting for that to break into a car. A simple hammer or sparkplug will do the job.
Protect yourself and love ones! I highly recommend LifeHammer and the keychain version, ResQMe.
