5 out of 5 stars Rain-x Roof top Cargo Bag   August 29, 2008
T. Floyd (Hampton Roads, VA)
It is waterproof. We hit a rainstorm and the luggage stayed dry. I was able to get one large bag and 2 medium sized bags inside. It's quite roomy. Like any rooftop cargo, it's a pain to load and unload, but it does the job and gives you more space inside.

2 out of 5 stars Let the buyer beware.   August 28, 2008

The product looked real nice BUT, You do not find out untill you open the box from Amazon that you NEED TO HAVE THE ROOF RACK WITH THE 4 RAILS NOT THE ROOF RACK WITH THE 2 RAILS.

5 out of 5 stars More than worth it   August 28, 2008
Ken D (Maryland)
I bought this to help move my son from Maryland to school in Miami. I found it easy to pack and easy to secure to the roof. The zippers were tough until you got the technique down. We drove for about 8 hours through Tropical Storm Fay between Savannah GA and Melbourne FL experiencing consistantly high winds and gallons of rain. When we got to the hotel in Miami I expected at least some dampness. Not a drop, not even a little condensation. The carrier stayed secured to the roof and the inside stayed dry. What a great deal!!!

4 out of 5 stars Did the Job   August 26, 2008

I found the product to be as advertised. Although it's not the easiest to install, it is doable. I would recommend loading the bag after getting the unit on the rack which may mean the use of a ladder. I would not try to do it at nigh or in low light situations.
We used it for a trip from Greenville SC to Oak Bluffs MA over 2000 miles round trip. Once we adjusted the straps for a tight fit and then tied the excess straps down from flapping we didn't hear a thing. As for the rain it wasn't an issue everything was dry when we opened it.
In comparison to a hard unit I know the cost was much easier to accept.

3 out of 5 stars Not bad but not great   August 17, 2008

The fabric is pretty thick and tough and seemingly water proof. We took it on a six hour drive in light rain with no water or dampness on the inside. The biggest problem was the zipper. It can be very difficult to close especially in temperatures below 50 degrees. In cold temperatures it becomes VERY stiff. Attaching it to the vehicle requires some "jimmying". It requires two attachment points PER side on all 4 sides so if you have car top rails on 2 sides (front/back or side/side) you may need to get creative. Look to see if you have any holes in the rails to attach clips for the sides that may be "missing" rails.
