Real Quality - Very Impressed! June 26, 2006 Rocky Soul (I been everywhere man) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought a cheaper competing model last August and used it over Thanksgiving, we camp in Arizona. It lasted about a day and a half when a moderate gust of wind snapped all of the plastic rings that I had the guy ropes tied to, and my toilet took off like a missle and we found it about 200 yards from camp after the storm passed. I think that one was from Columbia or Cabelas, not really sure. I looked them both up on the web and they look the same so I cant be sure exactly who the manufactuer was. Either way, it was trashed. I had a freind recommend to me the Paha Que Tepee so I bought it at my local REI dealer in February of this year. We used it for the first time over Memorial Day, and it was like night and day. The Paha Que unit was so much easier to set up, and it was like a rock when we had the guy ropes in place. The hardware is much heavier-duty than our last one, but the Tepee is much lighter overall. I think it because of the aluminum pole set is much lighter than the steel poles on our last design. The fabric is definitley very heavy on the Paha Que. It was used about 5-6 times a day for 6 straight days, and after a quick rinse and dry before we packed it back up, there was NO appreciable wear or tear on the tent at all! I guess I am just so happy to find a quality product in the sea of cheap junk - I would definitely recommend this product to all my friends who camp.
