1 out of 5 stars Doesn't work - won't charge / won't boost   August 16, 2008

I should have listened to so many of the reviews in here. I have the same problems.

The product does not work. I cannot charge the device at all. I have carefully followed the included instructions, but the device instantly changes the charging light to "steady green" (indicating full charge) and the device just beeps constantly when I attempt to charge it. However, the device is not fully charged (once I unplug the charging adapter, the flashlight wont even work!), and it will not boost my car (again, it just beeps constantly if I try).

1 out of 5 stars Beeping doorstop   August 8, 2008

The directions on the box do not indicate whether the unit is charged already or if it needs to be charged before the first use. I charged it before I used it which, I guess, rendered it ineffective presumably due to overcharging. So I exchanged it and tried to use the new one right out of the box, it didn't work either. It's basically a hunk of junk. Do not buy this product unless you need a big beeping flashing doorstop.

1 out of 5 stars A waste of time and money for a piece of cryptonic crud   August 7, 2008

To say this battery booster is a worthless piece of crud is too kind of an understatement. On a scale of 1 to 5, this is a -10. The one star I've given is 11 stars too many.
Though worthless, I have to spend money to return it. I also wasted valuable time searching for it, reading the reviews (I was warned wasn't I) charging it, trying to make it work, recharging it, not to mention wasting my good typing skills writing this review to warn others not to spend time or money on this piece of cryptonic crud.
The charger arrives half charged. The manual says to charge for 15 hours before using but the indicator light said it was fully charged when I plugged it in. I let it charge a few hours anyway and tried to start the car. I got beeps and blinking lights that meant charge it some more so I did. After a full 24 hours of charging I tried it again and got similar results. Initially, I followed directions exactly. Then I changed the recommended sequence to see if it would work that way. Then I charged some more and tried it again to no avail. All I get is beeps when I hit the booster button. It doesn't even blink like like it did at first. Additionally, the light doesn't come on anymore. It did the first time I charged but it seems the more it's charged, the less it does.

PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME THE NEGATIVE REVIEWERS DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT OR CAN'T FOLLOW SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS. The problem is just that this is a piece of junk. When I asked for the item at Pep Boys, the guy told me they didn't sell it anymore because they had too many returns. I'm kicking myself for not listening to him and all the folks on amazon that said it was worthless.

5 out of 5 stars Use Accessory Outlet instead of Cigarette Lighter   July 31, 2008

I was skeptical about this product because of all the negative reviews, but was in a position where it was about the only thing that would work for me. I had a car battery that wouldn't hold a charge for more than a few hours and a broken hood release cable, so I couldn't give it a normal jump-start.

The next day, the car wouldn't start. I tried the product in the cigarette lighter with the key turned to the accessory setting as instructed and nothing happens. I'm thinking "Oh crap, this is just great. I've got a dead battery and I can't even jump-start it!" Then I remembered the accessory outlet in the center console. I hooked it up there and within about 7 minutes, the car started and it was on my way!
