Dog Style November 4, 2007 Nikki Kimberling (Washinton, USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I am so pleased that Dog Style has been translated! I've been following it in Be Boy Magazine for a while. In Dog Style Motoni brings her wonderful, expressive drawing style and quirky humor to a high school romance. She has fun with the tropes of yaoi, such as making her seme both younger and much shorter than her uke. As for sex, Motoni doesn't disappoint. It is both hot and, occasionally, hillarious. Neither Motoni's sense of humor nor her violent streak are for everybody but if you like your manga cranked up to 11, you might want to give her a try.
Original, unique, tough but very charming Yaoi. November 4, 2007 R.Parklane (Tokyo, Japan) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I have heard about this one and was looking forward to it. This one exceeds my expectation and I have a wonderful time reading this explicit high school Yaoi. It is original, at times a bit "rough" but its style is very appealing. Good characters development with a most refreshing, tightly paced and engaging plot, sprinkled with quirky, funny and amusing moments. It is not love at first sight between Miki and the younger Teru. Both are in love with other guys who happen to be brothers. Lead around the leash and spurned by the brothers, they somehow find comfort in each other. One thing leads to another as they forged a somewhat strange relationship, looking out for the other, satisfying their sex craving in the process of course, and slowly realizing they do need and maybe, just maybe, even love each other. The sex of course bares all, with the aggressor being the inexperienced one :) and their first coupling is erotic and hot. Both Miki and Teru are likable characters, especially the seemingly cool but sensitive Miki. Their unrequited love for the brothers is bittersweet. This mangaka's artwork is lovely and distinct, her story telling skill unique and refreshing and I enjoy all those vivid facial expressions. I look forward to more on this couple as the cover does indicate this is volume 1.
