In many cases, the application of in situ technologies evolved as a necessity from a cost perspective. "Remediation Engineering: Design Concepts" is one of the few design manuals available to environmental engineers with relation to groundwater and subsurface remediation. The book is limited to proven technologies and has limited guidance on insitu technologies such as water/surfactant/alcohol flooding and oxidant flushing. The overall approach to design of the technologies reviewed is very throughall, and is a good reference to aid any aspiring designer in the remediation engineering field.
