Product Description The Third Edition of this classic surgery text is the ideal resource for veterinary students and equine and mixed large animal practitioners. The book can be used both as an introduction to the fundamental techniques of large animal surgery and as an easy-to-use guide for quick reference in the field. The step-by-step technique sections have been restructured to allow faster access to information, including objectives and lists of equipment needed for each procedure. In addition to general updates throughout, this edition features new sections on minimally invasive surgery, laser surgery, and laparotomy. Coverage includes surgical techniques for horses, cows, pigs, goats, and select exotic species. Most techniques presented can be performed without the advantages of a fully equipped large animal hospital or teaching institution.

A technical vet's handbook no animal surgery student should be without. April 3, 2008 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
College-level collections strong in vet science will find this third edition of a classic surgery text is essential to covering the basic techniques of any large animal surgery, and packs in illustrated, step-by-step techniques for a range of domestic animals. From color illustrations, black and white diagrams and sketches, and equipment lists to descriptions of surgery indicators and new sections on minimally invasive surgery options, this is a technical vet's handbook no animal surgery student should be without.
Turner's Surgery March 17, 2008 S. Hennessy (Limerick, Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is basically the same book as Turners surgery book. Same excellent and concise explanations on how to perform sugeries, anaesthetics for surgery and how to avoid post operative complications. The newer edition has updated the original book for more modern antibiotics and anaesthetic techniques as well as some newer procedures, but is in essence the same book as before. It is an excellent book for college and the new graduate, as the pictures also allow you to visualise the procedure more easily. The only downfall is the anaesthesia from an equine point of view, but then again its not an anaesthesia book!
