Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This clinically-oriented text covers the anatomy of all major species of domestic animals. It provides the general knowledge of mammalian structure that is crucial to the understanding of the other basic sciences, as well as the more detailed information that is directly applicable to the practice of veterinary medicine. Discussing the various body systems, it then offers a working knowledge of them by addressing the regional anatomy of a particular species or group of species.

  • Content is divided into two main sections - body systems and specific species or group of species - for a thorough and more logical study of anatomy.
  • All chapters feature a consistent format, offering a simple and even flow of information.
  • Color inserts enhance the overall quality of the book and better illustrate various anatomical areas of concern.
  • Both small and large animals are covered - including the horse, pig, cow, dog, and cat - to emphasize features and topics that have direct relevance to clinical work. Also included is a chapter on Avian Anatomy.

4 out of 5 stars Anatomy book for veterinary school   September 21, 2007

Interesting book. Some of the reading is kind of long and tedious but it does teach you a lot about almost every type of animal. This was a required textbook for my gross anatomy class.

5 out of 5 stars A necessity for veterinary students   June 11, 2007
A. Chang (texas)
This book really helped me get through comparative and large animal anatomy. It gives you a good overview of functional and comparative anatomy between major species. I would recommend this book to anyone in vet school.

3 out of 5 stars Very detailed, covers everything   December 19, 2006

This book is great if you have time to sit down and have a good read of it. It is not useful for quick checking of anatomy, yet this is what an atlas is for. If you take the time to read sections entirely it gives you a great understanding of the "big picture" and explains functional anatomy well.

4 out of 5 stars To be used with other vet anatomy books   August 21, 2006
S. Chen
At first I found this book difficult to appreciate and get into - but once I did I found that it was extremely useful. There aren't too many other vet anatomy textbooks with as much detail. However, the text can be dull and there are only a limited number of color photos. So I would recommend using this book along with other vet anatomy textbooks which provide better pictures.
