Product Description Developed from a comprehensive set of highly regarded veterinary lecture notes used in basic and clinical science courses, Fundamentals of Veterinary Clinical Pathology provides:
- In depth information about common laboratory testing procedures that are used to evaluate animals, including what the assays measure and what the results tell veterinarians about the physiologic and pathophysiologic processes that may be occurring in their patients.
- Explanations of the pathogeneses of abnormalities via text, tables, and figures.
- Examples of clinical laboratory data and appropriate interpretations.
- Photomicrographs of cells and structures in blood and urine that are of clinical or diagnostic significance.
- Extensive referencing of literature to provide sources of additional information for specific topics.
The book employs a modified outline style that allows readers easy access to specific information. The emphasis on the understanding of pathologic and physiologic processes is the key feature that sets this book apart from other clinical pathology texts.
Fundamentals of Veterinary Clinical Pathology serves as an excellent reference for veterinary students, veterinarians, pathology and medicine residents, and clinical pathologists.

Amazing book November 16, 2008 Josh Warren This book is amazing for most things in clinical chemistry. I have been completely happy with it.
College-level libraries strong in veterinary references at the advanced level will appreciate the second updated edition August 12, 2008 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
College-level libraries strong in veterinary references at the advanced level will appreciate the second updated edition of Fundamentals of Veterinary Clinical Pathology. It provides in-depth details about common clinical laboratory assays used to evaluate domestic animals and this edition adds additional disorders, diagnostics, images, references and more, covering abnormal lab data, revising color plates to include microscopic images, adding new chapters with accompanying websites, and rounding out the reference's information and impact.
Essential Reference March 7, 2008 David B. Rowland (Lafayette, IN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This should be on every practitioner's shelf. It is effective for both quick, thorough reference and for technical explanation - vet students, buy this book. I wish more books struck such a readable balance.
Outstanding Book and Author June 5, 2007 Melissa James, DVM (Ohio) I was lucky enough to take Clinical Pathology in Vet School from Dr. Stockham himself. He is/was an outstanding professor, and the book has proven to be invaluable. I still use it in clinical practice when I get that "stump you" bloodwork, and even just to be clear about how things are working together. The book is an excellent reference for both students (it really explains things very well) and for those in practice (the tables are excellent). I cannot praise it enough. Melissa James DVM.
I highly recommend this book... May 14, 2007 H. Lee This is a great book about vet clinical pathology so long as you're not looking for a basic summary/Cliff's notes kind of book about clinical pathology. This book goes more in depth than that but less than a very technical, bore-you-to-sleep text.
